An interesting and refreshing look at the mechanism of love – where it shows up in the brain whether in the early days of love, or after 10-25 years of marriage. Also, recently dumped lovers were studied and the result compared. Basically, it shows the love is the strongest addiction we as humans have. The reptilian reward centre is activated in all three forms of love studied, just like in drug addiction. In addition, recently dumped lovers used areas of their brain that provide intense focus, craving and the willingness to take enormous risk to get their lover back.
