This article by Victor Lipman argues that more relaxed or laid-back managers are often overlooked for management roles, as we tend to default to those with more aggression as they seem more authoritative. However, these strong Type A managers can often create an atmosphere of stress, which is counter-productive to creativity and engagement. Acknowledging that we each have some Type-A traits and some Type-B, Lipman encourages us to allow more Type-B behaviours to surface and create more calmness and engagement.
